Why doesn't the web link in my Blackboard course work?

broken links

Answer

Checking Web Links within Blackboard Courses

Links can sometimes break during course copies or if a change is made to the website the link is pointing to. A tool is now available within your Blackboard course to check the external web links within your course.

Link Checker is a building block added to Blackboard to allow for the checking of external links.

To use the Link Checker, follow these steps:

           1.       Inside your course, go to Control Panel. Click on Course Tools.

           2.       Select Link Checker.

           3.       Review links in the examining links area.  Check for availability and validity.

           4.       Click on Hide to hide a link from students' view.

           5.       Click Submit.

NOTE: You should manually check any links to Films on Demand resources. Because these resources use a proxy server, the Link Checker tool may display them as valid links even if they are broken.
