This is a browser related issue:
Folks need to check their current browser and java version and also make sure the plugin is not being blocked.
However for Chrome there is a special step that require due to the fact that Chrome has decided to remove the support of the cross platform plugin architecture NPAPI. There are more details about this here: https://java.com/en/download/faq/chrome.xml#npapichrome
In order to get the plugin working in chrome the following steps need to be done:
1. In your URL bar, enter:
chrome://flags/#enable-npapi
2. Click the Enable link for the Enable NPAPI configuration option.
3. Click the Relaunch button that now appears at the bottom of the configuration page.
