semester end

Good day,

The term is rapidly coming to a close. To help ensure a smooth end to the semester, we’ve composed a brief reminder message outlining tasks instructors need to complete prior to the end of the semester. It also provides helpful reference information regarding assessment development in Blackboard Learn and grade entry in PeopleSoft.

Please distribute the below message and attached end-of-semester checklist document to instructors in  your department.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Thanks,

============================================

The End of the Term is just around the corner!

If you haven’t already, be sure to make an announcement to your classes regarding the upcoming end of term, reiterate that all coursework is due, and have students complete the course evaluation form.

prep for end
Assessments:
If you are using the assessment feature within Blackboard Learn for course exams, check to ensure that the assessment functions as you intend. Instructions for several assessment features are available on the Faculty Resources Tab within Blackboard Learn. A set of best practices for Respondus Lockdown Browser usage is within this knowledgebase article.

Course Evaluations:
A new and improved end-of-course survey is here!

Instructors: Beginning with classes that end in December 2015, NWTC transitioned to a new end-of-course evaluation form and survey collection tool. Please watch for more information from Talent Development regarding how the end-of-course evaluation forms will be deployed and how you will view your student feedback.
Students:Your feedback is important to us. Your instructor may be setting up an alternative method for collecting your feedback during this transition period. Please contact your instructor if you have questions.
For Additional InformationAdditional information regarding the student and instructor view of the new form can be found in the Blackboard Knowledgebase:http://nwtech.libanswers.com/a.php?qid=1238938.

Final Grades:
Due in PeopleSoft 72 hours after the final class date. If you use the Blackboard Learn Grade Center option, then make sure your PSGRADE column is populated within that same time frame.  Click this link for more details on grade transfers from Blackboard Learn to PeopleSoft.  A date column for failing grades is now REQUIRED if you utilize the grade transfer process.

Check your list twice – hand calculate at least two student grades in the Blackboard course prior to entering the final grade into PeopleSoft.

Also be sure to complete the tasks on the End of Semester Checklist.

  • Talent Development also offers a PeopleSoft Grade Entry Course. Check the Training Calendar for upcoming session dates and times (Course Number: PS010F).

End of Semester Checklist:

Review the End of Semester Checklist and make sure you have completed the outlined items.
